Bucket List - Cliff Jumping
Before doing a cliff jump, keep in mind that pressure can be a huge issue and take care of your ears by using a few drops of olive oil or silicone. It is said that most of the professional cliff divers (in fact, 98% ) dive feet first, mainly because diving head first is very dangerous.
Cliff divers stare death in the face before every dive. Each leap is carefully calculated but still poses the threat of serious injury or even death. The danger associated with the sport has even earned it the nickname tombstoning.
The daredevil act dates back to 1770, when King Kahekili, the last king of Maui, leapt from Kaunolu, a 63ft. cliff and entered the water below without causing a splash, the king earned the nickname “birdman.” Later, he made his warriors jump from cliffs to prove their courage and loyalty.
